Bleach - Game 1 - Assault on Seireitei (Shinigami Thread)

General Yamamoto has called a mandatory meeting for all seated, Lieutenant, and Captain Shinigami. You're all gathered around the Great Hall waiting for him to appear and speak.

None of you have any clue as to the purpose of this meeting.

Present. Your message went undelivered for a while, so please excuse my lateness.

Hmph, Present

Present.

My my! What a beautiful little gathering we have here!

...even though some of us aren't as easy on the eyes as others.

*eyes his captain*

Watch your tongue, Yumichika. Or someone might cut it out.

Calm.

Present.

Present!

Forgive my lateness, but I'm present now.

Calm down, Ken-Chan! I almost fell off your shoulder!

"Ahem!"

The room grows silent as General Yamamoto, followed closely by his Lieutenant, enters and takes his seat at the head of the room. All the Shinigami in the room, even the fearsome Kenpachi Zaraki, bow down in respect to the old man, known to be incredibly powerful despite his age, and rumored to be the very first Shinigami.

"I am sure you are all wondering why I have called this meeting."

All the Shinigami in the room cast nervous glances at each other.

"As you all are aware, Hollow activity on Earth has hit an all-time low in most parts of the world, and the few that are appearing aren't even worth the time to send out seated officers such as yourselves. Quite simply, we're all sitting around bored with nothing to do."

"Tell me about it," grumbles Zaraki, picking his nose.

"In addition," the General continues, "It seems that many of you are more interested in petty rivalries between divisions and between captains than in your sworn duty as Shinigami. Therefore, my Lieutenant and I have come up with a plan to combat both of these issues at once. Starting tomorrow, we're going to have a wide-scale training exercise."

Murmurs of concern waft from the room, but General Yamamoto silences them all with one hand. "All seated officers will be paired into groups of two. All partnerships must work as a team and engage and defeat the other groups in combat. The last group standing is the winner, and if any partner is defeated in combat, withdraws intentionally, or goes missing from the exercise, the entire group is out of the competition. My own Lieutenant Sasakibe will be participating as well. It is my belief that this training exercise with both sharpen your skills and foster better cooperation between the thirteen divisions."

"Yay!" shouts 11th Division's Lieutenant, the pink-haired little girl Yachiru Kusajishi. "I'm gonna be on Ken-chan's team!"

But the General shakes his head. "No, Lieutenant. I thought it would be better if we paired everyone up with someone from a different division."

"What?!" Yachiru shouts indignantly. "No! I wanna be with Ken-chan!!"

"Er, Lieutenant," the General continues, taking a scroll out from under his haori. "I've already made the arrangements. You'll be paired with--"

"I WANNA BE WITH KEN-CHAAAN!!!!! The little girl's scream echoes through the halls of Seireitei.

"V... very well," says General Yamamoto, taking up a pen and scribbling on his scroll, proving that even the oldest and most powerful Shinigami in history was at least somewhat powerless against the abilities of a little girl. "With... one exception... you will all be paired with someone from another division." And with that, he unfurls his scroll for all to see:

"This is crazy!" pipes in 4th Division's Lieutenant, Isane Koutetsu. "We're a medical division! We have no place in combat!"

"Remember, Lieutenant... that you are all Shinigami first and healers second." Koutetsu slumps visibly.

"Now, if I were you," the General continues. "I would get together with your partner sometime today. Remember, this is a training exercise! You should keep your zanpakutou sealed and not use any zanpakutou-related abilities for the duration of the exercise, and power limits will be strictly enforced." With this the General stands up.

"One more thing, General," speaks up the white-haired captain of the 13th Division, Jushirou Ukitake. "Please, if you may... What is to become of my subordinate, Rukia Kuchiki?"

The General stops in his tracks. "Rukia Kuchiki has committed a serious crime in giving her Shinigami powers to a human. The Council of 46 have yet to pass judgment on her. Until they do, she has been placed in the Senzaikyu White Tower of Penance." With this he casts glances at Ukitake, Renji Abarai, and Rukia's brother Byakuya. "And she will remain there. Understood?"

Everyone understands.

"You may all do as you like for the rest of the day... Train, talk to your new partner, whatever. But be here tomorrow at 4 AM sharp. You're dismissed."

And the General hobbles away on his cane.

Yumichika slowly turns to look at his partner for this exercise. The self proclaimed pretty boy clenches his jaws and gives the Captain of the 12th Division an almost comical faux smile.

"Surely cleaner looking than Kenpachi, but as equally ungraceful," mutters Yumichika through his teeth.

Izuru stands up and starts to walk over to his partner.

Hmmph. Paired with a medic? I'd be much more pleased about this if lives were on the line.

"Hmph, a training exercise?", the 12th Division captain mutters. "It sounds like a waste of time... I hope it'll be able to keep me from falling asleep."

He lets out a yawn, and then looks towards Yumichika. "We'd better start planning, then."

"Weeee! I'm with Ken-chan!"

Yachiru reclaims her spot on Zaraki's left shoulder.

"Let's go get ice cream, Ken-poo!"

Shuhei says nothing, merely moves across the room to stand next to and just behind Captain Kuchiki.

Rangiku Matsumoto walks toward her partner still confused about what was to become of this.

Present!

Shunsui pm me, we need to talk.

"A training exercise?"
Zaraki scoffs at the idea.
"What a waste of time."

"O-oh? A training exercise?" Hanatarou murmurs, "Good thing our zanpakutou have to stay sealed. I can't seem to... uh... remember where I left Hisagomaru."

Gin stood from his spot, his erie, unwavering smile present on his face acomppanied with his closed eyes. This gave him a resemblence to the Japanese folklore of the kitsune. Standing Gin started to walk towards his proclaimed partner, Isane Koutetsu.

"Hmm... This looks interesting" Gin showed little enthusiam or lack of it for the activity, he showed only his smile.

"Ken-rin!" Yachiru yells, "Don't be so lazy! You're going to do this tournament with me if I have to beat you into it!"

Yachiru probably ment it, too.

Ikkaku walks up and shakes Jushiro's hand.

Toushiro sits next to Renji, and says nothing.

Shuhei eyes Hanatarou only momentarily, and mutters "Pathetic" under his breath. He then goes back to observing the Commander, awaiting the next series of orders, or to be dismissed.
