Game 2 - Chapter 1B

Sachi sat at her desk glaring at the wall. She had been doing that for several minutes now. Though the wall seemed unaffected by this, Izzy had gotten tired of waiting for her to answer and gotten up. He'd have to wait longer becuase she wasn't sure she could open her mouth without screaming in fustration.

Silently she added a few nails sticking out of the log on her drawing. It didn't really make her feel better so she packed her stuff up and left.

There was several studenst in the hallway, another time she might have tried to talk with them. She popped a ciggerette in her mouth instead. She had no way to light it, but just having it there made her feel a little better.

She made a stop to the lunchroom as well. A few minutes later she was looking at her distorted upside down reflection in silver spoon as she dumped sugar in a tall cup of tea. He reflection was looking angerily back at her. She tried to put on a serene happy face, but her eyebrows didn't seem to want to move and she ended up with a sort of sudden facial spaz when she try to force it. Wonderful, she couldn't even look calm as well as Miss Holier-than-thou could.

She chucked the spoon at the nearest wall, where it stuck, scooping end half buried in the word. All in all that action didn't make her feel better either. So balancing swords, ciggerettes and a very sugary cup of tea she stomped of back to her dorm

Woe to any piece of furniture in her room sturdy enough to be satisfying to distroy

"Huh?" Omaeda grumbled. "Just go to bed, Bukowski, you'll be able to spar all you want in Combat class tomorrow."

"Alright class, have a seat," Isane said the next morning as class 3-B shuffled into her Shinigami Law and Protocol classroom. "We'll be starting class in eight minutes."

Izarou left the classroom and headed straight for bed. He was very excited for the combat practice tomorrow it would be fun. He needed extra practice if he was going to beat a member from class 3A. From what Izzy had heard there was a sumo wrestler and a girl with great attack or was it a guy. Izzy knew its name was Maka.

Izzy changed into a comfortable attire for sleeping. He then paced his room several times but was still not tired. He decided he would make himself a cup of tea to help him sleep. He used the kettle that was in his room. He sipped at his tea until the cup was a quarter empty. He felt his eyelids start to shut on him he was starting to doze off. He took a cookie out of package and ate it. It was a tasty chocolate chip cookie that has nothing to do with the story. Izzy then got under his blanket and fell asleep.

He awoke the next morning bright and early so he would have time to go for a jog. He got dressed into a T shirt and sweat pants. He ate a power bar then left. He ran around campus and a little off campus to. He saw a bar and knew he was now pretty far off campus. He looked at his watch and knew it was time he should be getting back. His slow jog turned into a sprint at one point to burn energy he still had. He looked over at a lake on the way back. It was beautiful. The morning sun was just coming up creating a beautiful image. Izarou took out a camera and captured a beautiful picture. He then looked at the picture and smiled it was perfect. He returned it into a button pocket in his pants and continued back to campus. Before he got to campus he stopped one last time and picked some elegant flowers. He then walked into the dorms.

He arrived in the dorms and set his camera on the shelf. He then put the flowers in a vase filled with water on the counter. He then went upstairs and had a shower. He then changed into blue jeans, a white shirt and a sweater. He grabbed his book bag and his pills and headed for class. He checked to see what class he had first SL&P first with Isane. He looked forward to the afternoon when he could test out his fighting abilities. He walked into the class and sat down in the front of the class. Izzy heard stories about people who sat in the back and fell asleep in her class, it was not something Izzy wanted to happen to him. He looked up at the teacher. “So the girl I saw yesterday in the 3A classroom, who is she if I may ask”

Byouko was early for class, as usual, and sat in the corner by the window, as usual, silently poring through the same book she'd been reading yesterday. She knew she was one of the few people in class who actually enjoyed Lt. Kotetsu's class. The rich and detailed history of Soul Society was so much more interesting than seeing who could swing a sword around harder.

Alright, today was the day to change things. Sydney had been at this school for 2 years and 2 weeks so far. He hadn't really made any friends or done anything special, in fact, he had pretty much sat back and did nothing. He smiled to himself, he'd grown accustomed to doing nothing. Tired of being a man of action and all the stress, drama excitement that had plagued his living years he had been taking it easy since he came to soul society. Perhaps, taking this change slowly would work best. If he was going to make anything out of himself this year was the time to do it. First up today was Shinigami Law and Protocol... Hmmmm, trying to change things was a lot easier said than done Sydney thought as he walked into the class room. For now... Sydney looked over the classroom. He was going to sit up the front.

Sachi woke up on the floor at the foot of her bed clutching the splitered remains of a desk leg, rather like one would a stuffed animal. Whilst it was a rather strange way to awaken it way also was proof that the election and the new found grudge where not just figments of a bad dream.

It was also proof that she needed a new desk, and a perhaps a puching bag unless the academy started offering anger management classes. Crap, what class do I have she grumbled internally, rolling around in half-assed attempt to get up. Evenually and with much more dramatics that really nessesary Sachi managed to get up and change into a clean set of robes.

Near the door, the cup of tea she had gotten from the cafeteria the night before had turned a a half congealed and sugary mess. It was really quite gnarly to look at, and she figured she really ought to do something about it. Throwing it out the window and letting someone else deal with it came to mind. Eh, leave it she thought, too early to bother with. She slung her belonging over her shoulder and trodded meanderingly to the cafeteria stuffed several setsuma oranges in her stachel. Class was just starting to fill up when she got there, though she noted with a mental victory dance that she was earlier that Rumiko. She yawn sliding into a seat between Izzy and Sydney. She put her feet up on the desk and began peeling her oranges, vaguely hoping than they'd at least be hearing about something exicting in class like a battle. It would probably be more legal mumbo-jumbo with her luck though.

"Mornin' Izzy, Morning Guy-with-foriegn-name-who-usually-sits-in back" She said feeling a little more awake after her first orange.

((If we have room mates, i feel bad for whoever ends up sharing living space with sachi ))

Sydney watched Sachi as she came in and sat between him and Izarou.

"Morning Sachi, how're you doing?" So far Sydney's day hadn't been too bad. He had woken up before Matsuura and made his way to breakfast. "Suprisingly chipper" Sachi replied to Sydney, though a mouthful of orange. "The sun is up, the bird are singing, and I have a reason to care about school again" She grinned at Adachi empty seat. Nothing like being the underdog to give your will to win a kick in the pants. Actually as she recalled this guy had supported, Class Rep-sama in the election. Why was he down here with the losing team?

"How 'bout yourself Sorbet-san. How are you doing, and what propted you to grab front row seats for a lecture on the fascinating world of Shinigami Law and Protocal?" She said cheerily, not breaking eye contact. This guy was kinda different, best see if he is up to anything, right?She stuck the orange peeling to the underside of the desk, which was rather gum encrusted anyway after generations of academy student made to sit here and learn everthing you didn't really need to know about Soul Society, but where too afraid to annoy Isane-sensei to run away from.

Maybe Rumiko would even be late, she eyed the door, while she waited for Sydney to reply. Wouldn't that be a nice start to the day?

((eh. a little shorter than i might have liked. Sorbet is a dessert.))

Rumiko's day was starting off just peachy. Last night, she tried reading up for the Shinigami Law and Protocol class, but wound up reading the same sentence over and over and over again for 10 minutes. It simply wasn't interesting to devote time to. Besides, the laws were all outdated and needed some severe revamping. None of it made sense: laws overlapped, repeated, and contradicted one another, while others went unheeded and without any support. It was a tangled mess.

After her busy night "reading", she tried to go to sleep. For three straight hours, Rumiko stared at her ceiling, eyes open, wondering when sleep would take her. And for three hours, all she could do was think. About her plans, about her future, about homecoming, about the election, about that boy Ryouichi Kanue. He seemed disingenuous, though his facade was fairly likeable.

She woke up an hour earlier than per her usual, unfortunately, and one look in the mirror told her just how much sleep she'd missed out on. Bags under her eyes, pale face, a droop in her shoulders. Rumiko looked about as awful as she felt.

Hoping that no one would notice her haggard appearance, Rumiko shuffled into the classroom, taking a seat behind Sydney. It looked like she wasn't late, but many of the other students in the class had beaten her to the classroom. Laying her frazzled head down on her arms, Rumiko nearly drifted off to sleep.

Sachi Oyashio wrote:

Sydney thought to himself, should he tell the truth? Hardly, how embarrassing, not to mention pathetic. "Ah, well. You know what they say. You can't eat the same thing everyday." Was that even a saying? Who knew? He had heard it somewhere. Sachi didn't seem too upset over losing the representative election. In fact, she seemed happy. Would she had been even happier if she had won? Again, who knew. Strange girl, this one. Although she doesn't seem like a bad sort.

Sydney was going for some sort of metaphor here, Sachi assumed. She couldn't figure exactly what he was on about, but it seemed somewhat important so she figured she would agree with him anyway. "Amen, Sorbet-san. And with that in mind would you like to partake in some citrus fruit?" She said amicably, pulling another orange out of her statchel and throwing it in his general direction. Kind a strange dude. Seems nice enough though.

And then it happened. Their new glorious class leader shuffled into the classroom and took a seat in the row behind them, and frankly she looked like crap. Whaddya know, there is a god Sachi thought, trying very hard not physically express some victory ritual. Stress must be getting to her already, poor thing...

Sachi burst into a fit of giggles. She couldn't take it anymore. She leaned back far enough in her seat that she could see Rumiko, who was doing a delightful impression of a corpse laying half asleep on her desk like that, without having to turn around . Swallowing a mouthful of orange, Sachi grinned "Good Morning Class-Rep-Sama" She dragged the suffix sama out sarcastically, "Are you read for your first day of being responsible for class 3-B?"

Rumiko chuckled. She couldn't help it. A grin overtook her face and she sat up, eyes closed in mirth as the laughter just bubbled out of her. Her day was just made much, much better.

Through her bloodshot eyes, she could see the remnants of Sachi's smirk. I'm probably confusing the hell out of her, Rumiko thought with another peal of laughter. Excellent, she felt much less horrible. And it was all thanks to Sachi.

With a smirk of her own that rivalled the one she'd worn the day before, Rumiko's half-lidded eyes seemed to do the laughing now. "That's right, isn't it, Sachi?" she drawled. "I won the election yesterday, didn't I? Well that little reminder just brightened my day. Thanks, Sachi. You're so good to me somedays, it's a wonder I don't fall apart withou-ahahaha!" She cut herself off, head shaking as she kept laughing. Holding up a finger, she appeared to be trying to get herself under control. Her mind was going a mile a minute. If this doesn't throw her for a loop...I may have to bring out the big guns.

Clearing her throat, the shit-eating grin still on her face, she addressed Sydney with a tap on his shoulder. "So what did you think of the reading?"

What the hell was that? Sachi gawked, nearly falling out of her chair. This was new, apperently Adachi did have more than one facial expression. Kind of spooky to see though.

Still that was freakin' odd. Mood swing much? Cripes, How stressed was that she'd go... Ah That was it, wasn't it? Well even if it wasn't it would be worth it anyway.

She looked around. Izzy and Sydney where close enough to have noticed the 180 degree turnaround in Rumiko behavior so hopefully they'd back her up if it came to that. Casually Sachi sat up in her seat putting her orange peelings away and her feet back under her desk. The her hand shot up and without waiting for a confrimation from the teacher she start speaking clearly and loudly.

"Isane-sensei, Isane-sensei? I think Adachi-san is suffer something of emotional breakdown! She is obviously under some mental duress I mean look" She gestured dramatically towards Rumiko smile. "The Adachi-san, I know hardly smiles much less, a deranged smile. I fear that the strain of her new position is to much for her. Shall I take her to the infirmary perhaps?" She said trying to effectively convey worry though not quite managing.

An orange, Sydney wasn't the biggest fan of oranges but he by no means hated them so with a polite nod he caught the orange and started peeling it. Until he received a tap on his shoulder.

Rumiko Adachi wrote:

"The reading?" Sydney asked as innocently as he could manage. Truth be told he had been busy thinking all night and doing any sort of 'work' had completely skipped his mind.

Brilliant. Just as expected. Rumiko's smile had faded to a casual grin by this point in Sachi's little monologue. "Thank you for the concern, Sachi-chan", she said calmly with composure that had not been present half a minute ago. "But I can certainly make it through class. And you've seen me smile before. You must have a rather poor memory, is all."

Turning back to Sydney, Rumiko softened her look. He'd been kind to her, she figured that she could at least return the favor for now. "I didn't get far," she admitted, speaking quietly. "The entire legal system is a mess."

We are back to Robo-Rumi I see. Perfect Class Rep Rumiko, not be confused with zombie-like Rumiko, Fighter Rumiko, or Cookoo Rumiko. She keep changing to adapt to any situation thrown at her, but is nearly defeat by sleep depirvation! Who is Rumiko Adachi, if she's so sure of herself why is she here in average land with us, and best of of all who does she think she is that she can pull this kind crap on me?

"Ugh. And yet no matter how thick I lay it on, somehow my dramatics don't match yours, Phoney-face." Sachi adopted her her relaxed posture again, scowling at the black haired girl behind her. "When you wash your face, does water get in behind your mask Rumiko-chan?"

She briefly turned to Sydney, "Isane is good for going over everthing in class, just scribble down the things that sound important." Her face grew cold again as she addressed Rumiko

"Weather you really have lost your marbles or not, I am not really a fan of mind games anyway. I can't settle things my way here but.." Sachi paused turning around and leaning over the desk adjasent to Rumiko so as to properly look the other in the eye. "I am not your chess piece." She emphasizing each word clearly.

Chess piece? Rumiko thought amusedly. Heh. I wonder where she got that idea.

"Just because I don't choose to express myself with the grace of a three year old, Sachi-chan, does not mean that I am incapable of emotion," she said more quietly than the volume she'd used with Sydney. Rumiko's voice did not lose its icy quality as she continued. "And I am wearing no more of a mask than you are."

Pausing, she considered her next words. It's not my chess game, Sachi, but we are all still pieces on the board. "What did you make of the reading?" she asked Sachi slowly before finally caving into a yawn. She fisted her hand over her mouth and closed her eyes lightly, laying her head back on the desk. "Any insights you'd like to share?"

"It doesn't really matter, if I am wearing a mask does it?" Sachi imatated Rumiko posture, resting her head on the desk behind her next to Rumiko. "I act, I make faces, I could sing and dance to any tune I need to play. But I rarely convince and do you know why Rumiko?" She dropped the suffixes altogether and leaned in closer,speaking just above a whisper. "Because I can't believe my lies myself, if I did I think might go insane."

"But you already are playing the part of unbalanced leader so well, so I think I shall just stick with my anger problems, and impulsive side for now." She sat up scooting back toward her own desk. The classroom had sorta delveloped an oppressive atmosphere since Rumiko and Sachi had started their conversation. It did seem that everytime they even looked at each other since the election started, the negitive vibe between them got worse and worse. How far is Rumiko willing to push it? How far will I go to try and one up her?

"As to the reading, I haven't read it. My only insight on the whole damn thing that outside its occasional entertainment value, it is pretty much useless. We repeat the same mistakes in matter of law and history over and over anyway, no matter how many true or false questions they give us." She looked back once more at Rumiko.How far can I take this?

Well there was rumours that they might get to spar next class.

Izzy looked at sydney. He whispered in his ear. "Quite the cat fight" he chuckeled. " Hows your day so far?"

Yes, something tells me I don't want to get stuck between these two. "So far, not too bad. I just hope today's classes go well because afterwards, I think I might try to prepare somewhat for the tournament. I don't want my defeat to be too humiliating." Just how good was the advance class anyways? Sydney had seen some of them around and a few of them certainly looked capable but others looked to be as capable of fighting as Sachi was capable of being friendly towards Ruminko. Sachi had certainly seemed to take this election thing to heart.

Izzy listened to what the boy said. He looked over at Sachi and Rumiko who were still fighting.
The class was still empty and bare. Only 4 students had shown up so far.

Akara slowly walked in the class room; not paying much attention to the others. Akara noticed Byouko in the back, but didn't try to stress the dance thing much, so he took a seat be hide Izarou. Akara was just sitting not paying attention to anything until his stomach growled at him, then he took out an apple from his belt-poach and started to eat.

The apple was green, a shiny green, he realized that apples are green but you see green apples as much as yellows and reds. The topic in his mind was odd but he didn't care, who was he gonna talk to, he didn't really like anyone here. Not liking much people here, he couldn't wait for sparring; he took a small white ball from his belt-poach and threw up in the air.

Akara thought about cutting but just caught, and then threw it in the air again, then again, and again, and continued

Well I suppose to actually practise wouldn't hurt. Sydney gave Izarou a nod. "Sounds good."

(I know, this probably should be a PM with smythe, but people keep saying "You're not role playing enough!" and I really don't care if this is made public, and I do realize the answer is probably no. I trust you guys to keep OOC information OOC. Even if you don't, Kazu believes in sharing. Smythe, if you want, you can answer in private message or publically. I don't mind either way.)

Kazu re-enters from his multi-day long training session in the Rukon district. Meeting cheering and jeering people, he had a fun time overall. He was tired, and he would need rest, but an issue was raised within his own studies that prevented a restful sleep until it was resolved.
Sitting at the desk of his new doom room, he put quill to paper, addressing those in charge for a writ of special permission.

Honorable General,

Though I enjoy and relish use of the official training facilities, I'm finding much of said facilities to be lacking to my needs. Speaking as a dutiful protection deity with over three thousand years walking the land of the living, as a student of Buddha and Confucius, and as a dutiful soldier in training to service the betterment and protection of mankind, I humbly request permission to construct secure training grounds outside the boundaries of the Seireitei whereupon the full force of training may be unleashed and experienced at whim, and used with permission, by others who are careful and respectful enough to use it without endangering the lives of others.
If it is required to be constructed outside of the borders of the soul society itself, I will be happy to comply. I ask permission out of honorable respect to your position, and wish this training area to offer a higher level of training experience to those of a responsible disposition.
Coming from my own experiences with the Rukon District, I can attest that one such arena with seating could inspire lost souls and increase moral and support for the good work of all those under your command.
Should you decline my request, I will respect your decision, and will refrain from training other than the basic exercises I currently conduct outside the Seireitei walls.

Matsuura took his dear sweet time to get to class, he was always a late sleeper and his roommate Sorbello made no indication of trying to alleviate him of this habit. He stopped in the courtyard as always and lit up a fresh smoke, watching people shuffle past on their way to wherever they were going.

"This place is so boring...Maybe I should start another fight, liven things up." He dropped the butt to the ground, rubbing it out before moving on. He wandered into the class.

He watched the cat fight with amusement from the door before walking over to an empty desk, pulling the chair away and setting it down next to Rumiko, sitting on it backwards, his arms folded over the backrest. "So... Ms. President, wanna go have another match? You know, ditch this bitch and go back behind the bushes. I mean, as much as I enjoy a cat fight, like every guy does, shes a nosy whiny child and I'm tired of hearing her temper tantrums in class." He grinned.

Sachi rolled her eyes, resisting the urge to curl her hands into fist.

She exhaled. It's cool. He doesn't really matter anyway. Rumiko is the one we want to surpass. This dude is just a lackey with a additude problem. What is his damage anyway? Is he still touchy about when I tried to bum a ciggerette off him? Since when is he on her side anyway, they were poking each other with swords the first time they met. She stopped, clearing her rambling thoughts. She had calmed down a bit.

Still she wasn't one to give up easily, or quietly for that matter. "Can it Ryou, Go find another rivalry to interfere with, or I'll show what it looks like when I really throw a temper tantrum"

If this class didn't start soon, Sachi consider that there was a very real chance that she was going to lose it.

Rumiko rolled her head over to her other arm, most of her face hidden under a blanket of black hair. She tucked it behind her ear, grinning. "I'd love that, actually," she drawled, casually ignoring Sachi's comments as she sat up with her head leaning on one of her hands. And she would, too; she could certainly use the practice before the Homecoming tournament. "Let's move it to between classes, though, or else someone might just tattle on me. And you know how much I'd hate that."

After clenching her jaw for a moment to stifle a yawn, she glanced at Sachi before turning her attention back to Matsu. "Actually, we could probably spar in the next class. Though I believe it'll mean you need to actually use your sword." Even after all this time, Matsu still seemed hesitant to use his sword and Rumiko still did not know why. All she knew was that he always seemed to be craving the excitement and entertainment of a fight. Then why....She had resolved to find out.

"Alright class, be seated," said Isane, strolling into the classroom up to her desk. She pulled out a notebook and took attendance. "And... it looks like Arikosu-san is absent. Again," she said testily, putting another red mark next to the minotaur's name. "I don't care if you are 3,000 years old, you still need to be in class," she muttered out loud. She slapped the book shut. "Alright, everyone, pens and notes out! Today, we'll be talking about the Second Reckoning."

She pulled out her chalk and wrote on the board:

Isane turned back to the board. "Meanwhile, among the Divisions, Oniroku Shiba kept up his research on spiritual energy and powers, Hollows, and zanpaktou. In addition to discovering Bankai, Oniroku Shiba also was the first to uncover a link between human 'plus' souls and Hollows, and first hypothesized that plus souls actually became Hollows once their spiritual essence had sufficiently degraded. To this effect, Shiba petitioned General Yamamoto for the creation of a new division, specializing in Human Relations. The petition was granted, and Oniroku Shiba appointed his lieutenant, a young man by the name of Shichirou Zankei, first Captain of 10th Division."

"The research of both Shiba and Zankei led to a drastic reorganizing of the Gotei Divisions. Perhaps, it was thought at the time, by sending Shinigami to Earth to deal with plus souls before they could degrade into Hollows, it would then be necessary to deal with fewer Hollows in the long run. The Gotei were dispersed all over the world, as they are now, with one Shinigami for each 200,000 people of a given population. Izarou looked over at Sydney who nodded a yes about the sparring thats great he thought to himself. Ryou walked into the room and right away he was talking. Izzy put his head in his palm it was going to be a long day. Then by luck the teacher walked in. Izzy sat up in his seat and pulled out a pen and paper. He started writing. He continued writing but when he wrote this his heart was not in it. He was much to excited for combat. He knew this would be good o show Sydney his moves. Besides the boy has to know what I am capible of. And I will get to know what he can do. Izzy then realized he missed some righting he like out a breathe of air the inhaled and continued writing.

After a while of writing Izzy almost yawned. He covered the yawn by hitting his knee off the desk. If he fell asleep in this class he might get.....FROZEN

Akara barely heard the rest.

"Use my sword?" He whispered to her as the teacher faced the board, "How...barbaric!" He smirked and started to doodle in his notebook.

History, such a boring subject... He never found the purpose of taking notes, it was beyond him. You don't have a chance to jot down notes on the battlefield, if you can't memorize what you need quickly, you're doomed to die. It's been a long time since all of that though. I'm rusty...but hopefully not for too much longer. Huh? What was that?

Matsuura raised his hand. "Ah.... Kotetsu-sensei, if Donosei-sama was so great, how come he's no longer around?"

Sitting up the front didn't help much, a few seconds after the teacher spoke Sydney was already in his own little world. His mind drifted back to memories of things that he had thought long forgotten but before he was completely gone Matsuura's question brought him briefly back to reality. The past again? And here I was thinking I was better than to get hung up on regret. Nothing is going to change if I don't change first.
