Game 2 - Chapter 2

Igarashi felt a close call in this last attack, he came out lucky again. But he was losing focus. Dammit! Stop worrying about Zetsumei, there are medics here! he will be fine, just enjoy it! Nodding at his own mind, Igarashi decided to stop worrying about zetsu, and just fight as he was doing before. Just plain enjoying it. Even if Zetsu looked in bad shape, it could cost Iga the fight if he kept worrying.

Letting out a laugh of excitement, Igarashi watched as Zetsumed aimed to strike. So he decided to sidestep this time, and Counter with a horizontal slash.

Suddenly, there was a whistle.

"Alright! That's enough!" Shuhei called to Iga and Zetsu. "Oushou-san, what you think you're doing in there? Your form is sloppy, your defense is nonexistent. There's more blood on the floor than in your body! You're gonna get killed if you go into a fight like that. And Sakimoto-san. You're fast, I'll give you that, but you made some dumb mistakes. That's why you're all cut up too." He nodded to the two of them, "Both of you see the medics over there and get yourselves patched up," before resuming his attention on the other fights.

Igarashi felt a little frustrated when his fight was stopped. He knew he was winning,and he knew he was about to finish Zetsumei off. The interruption of the fight had put a dry stop to the adrenaline and joy Igarashi felt. Still, he also figured that if it had continued, he might have gotten carried away and hurt Zetsu in a far more serious way. As it stood, Igarashi just smirked at the teacher's chastise about his "Dumb mistakes" No doubt, he had gotten some cuts because he let his guard down, and didn't fight with everything when Zetsu began to act different. But Igarashi still felt good, heck, he would have no problem in fighting another opponent right now, so he considered this as a victory for him, no matter what Lt. Hisagi said.

After Hisagi ordered them to get patched up, Igarashi lifted a thumbs up to him. In part in defiance, and in par to show the professor he wasn't in that bad shape. Still, Lt. Hisagi was now looking at the other fights. Shrugging. Igarashi then headed to where the medics were, and spoke to the purple haired boy, who looked like the one in charge, despite his age. "I'm fine, you should take care of my classmate first, he needs the help more than I do right now. You can patch me up after you are done with him." And indeed, Igarashi didn't felt in need of immediate medical assistance, he would rather have the medics focus their attention on Zetsu. He wanted to ask him about what the hell had happened in the middle of the battle. But he knew he couldn't ask him as long as he was badly wounded like that.

Rikiki watched Chiken warily, waiting for the whistle to blow. Whatever it was Chiken planned to do, she had to anticipate it. Anticipate him. Just keep watching. ...What was that between Hikari's front teeth? It was green and looked suspicously like parsley... should she tell her...

This line of thought went on for a while, by the time Rikiki's remembered what she was supposed to be doing, a restrain spell was inches from her nose. Eep.
Stepping back, Rikiki thrust out her palms and yelled the first spell that came to mind, the one right in front of her. "Way of Binding One: Restrain!

He anticipated a counter-spell from Tenkawa, but it didn't matter. All that mattered was pinning the black-haired boy with a binding spell so that he would be easy prey.

Before Kanue could even finish reciting his spell, Tenkawa blasted him with a burst of wind-like reiatsu that lifted him off the ground and flung him back just inches from slamming into a wall. Without waiting to see if the spell hit its target or not, Tenkawa immediately readied his zanpakutou and started running towards Kanue, ready to block the next action that he would take, although he had at least a few seconds to consider what that action was going to be.

"Look. What do you think you should do when you're rushing at your enemy with your sword drawn?", came a familiar voice.

"...I don't want to actually kill him."

"Fine, suit yourself. But I'm not just a blade, you know."

...

...not just a blade? But there wasn't much else to it, except the hilt...

Junshirou, in a deft wrist movement, flipped his sword around and aimed straight for Kanue's forehead, hoping for at least some sort of concussion before he could do anything about it.

Slightly dazed from Tenkawa's spell, Ryouichi stood and gathered his wits only to see the other boy charging at him, sword drawn. Even with his mind slightly foggy, Ryouichi's combat instincts were screaming at him. He's going for my head. He gathered reiatsu in his hands, at the same time trying to get his muddled body to sidestep left.

With a yell, Tenkawa drove the butt of his sword at Kanue's head, but it was clear there wasn't much force behind it and Kanue dodged easily and countered with a Crawling Rope spell. For once, one of Kanue's spells actually worked, wrapping around Tenkawa and dropping him motionless to the ground.

Ryouichi crouched down to Tenkawa's bound form with a slightly condescending smile on his face. "Well, considering that it would be somewhat pointless to hit you while you're down...," he said, taking ahold of some of the ropes binding the other boy and moving him so that Tenkawa was leaning against the wall, facing forward, "I'll let you stand." Still smiling, Ryouichi aimed a roundhouse kick directly at the dark-haired boy's face.

...okay, this was bad. Mental note: don't go charging at an enemy with the butt of your sword, especially when they can cast binding spells.

Well, this was definitely a valuable learning experience, Junshirou thought. He braced himself for impact as he saw Kanue's foot whirling towards his face.

Blood sprayed on the wall as the helpless Tenkawa flew through the air like a rag doll.

Junshirou struggled in vain to break the strong reiatsu bonds. This was hopeless... there was no way he was going to be able to break them. Still, he'd been in much, much tighter spots than this before, and a boot to the face was nothing compared to what he'd been through in the past.

He looked mockingly cheerily up at Kanue, and spat at his face (it would be a momentary setback at best, but that was better than nothing), bracing himself for the next impact.

Ryouichi frowned as gravity slammed Tenkawa to the earth a little ways away. "Now we can't have that. You were supposed to stay standing." he sighed, pulling the slightly bloody Tenkawa back against the wall with a nearly invisible smirk that looked a little sadistic. "Now let's try again, shall we?" he asked, this time drawing Mugenji. For a short moment, Ryouichi wondered if it was ethical to use a person who couldn't move as a pincushion. Then he shrugged the thought off and drove his sword straight for Tenkawa's shoulder.

With a grin oddly reminiscent of the red-capped Ximenez, Kanue pulled his sword out and drove it lazily toward Tenkawa's shoulder.

Where it stopped.

The blade hit Tenkawa's skin and glanced right off. The dark-haired boy, still motionless on the floor, smiled knowingly up at a rather surprised Kanue.

Ryouichi scowled a bit after recovering from his momentary bout of surprise, but then he began to grin again. "Well that's a bit impressive, Junshirou-kun." he said, smiling darkly down at the boy, and then, lowering his voice, whispered, "I'm not sure if that was just a fluke or something that you did, but if it is what I think it is, you no longer have any aces up your sleeve. How unlike you, Junshirou-kun." After pausing for a moment to let Tenkawa digest his statement, Ryouichi again pushed his sword towards the boy's shoulder.

Junshirou mulled the words over, his face nonchalant. It was probably a little rash letting Kanue in on his ace right now, but he would have found out sooner or later. Besides which, it would be fun to see how he reacted strategically.

He scoffed. "If you're doing this again, I wonder if you do."

He dropped his voice to a whisper. "So. What are you doing in Seireitei, Ryouichi-kun?"

Angrily, Kanue pushed as hard as he could. His sword pierced though Tenkawa's shoulder, but only a little. He growled. Had Tenkawa's skin always been this tough?

Possibly subconsciously, Rikiki let off quite a lot of force with her Restrain spell, enough to totally overwhelm Chiken's and knock him over on his side.

Seeing the other blond boy rushing toward him, Satoko put his blade up to parry. Anshou's sword hit, rattling Satoko's arm pretty painfully, but thankfully, barely managed to avoid getting cut.

Satoko grinned, his blood wasn't anywhere, excellent. "My turn" Takeshi was still grinning when he attacked Anshou, Ryuunosuke cutting towards his opponents knee in an attempt to slow him down.

He was a little surprised by how easily Satoko had parried his attack, but instead of trying to parry his strike, Anshou swung his sword hard, hoping his attack would make contact before his oppenent's.

Tenkawa slowly struggled to his feet as Ryouichi seethed. "Way of Binding 4: Crawling Rope!" Kanue yelled again, and another blast of reiatsu wrapped around Tenkawa and dropped him prone to the floor once more.

Anshou swung his sword at Satoko, but Satoko managed to roll out of the way. Anshou lost sight of the boy for a moment, just long enough for Satoko to drive his blade through Anshou's shoulder. Undaunted, Anshou slashed at Satoko's midsection, practically disemboweling the boy.

Snap! Chiken felt his reiatsu in the restrain spell break as Rikiki's devoured it and he was quickly knocked to the ground. Smiling, he let out a laugh. "Ahahaha! Good job Rikiki! He seemed not to care about being bound and down on the ground, but tested the binds anyways. They seemed weak enough for him to break out of soon, but he didn't really care. Instead, he just stared over at Rikiki, smiling, waiting for her to move again.

Anshou grimaced for a split second as he felt bleed seeping down his arm. He smiled slightly, then shoved Satoko back as hard as he could before lunging towards him with another attack.

Ryouichi frowned at the other boy's question. "As I told everyone on the first day of class, I came here to help people with their problems, but," he said, his expression changing to a slight smile as he began to advance on Tenkawa again, "if you're referring to my personal life, I also came here because I'm good friends with Zetsumei-kun. I saw no reason to stay behind in Ruknogai when my friend was going off to the Shinigami Academy." Ryouichi ended his words by plunging his sword down at Tenkawa's midsection.

Takeshi winced as his blood spilled, not fun stuff. He couldn't take much hits, he had to make the choice between going down swinging or stalling this as long as he could.

Takeshi charged towards Anshou, fully intent on attacking. he was going to try to push his sword through the other boy's chest.

Rikiki grinned wide as her spell knocked Chiken to the floor. Unfortunately, this was where her strategy ran out. She had intended to copy his spell, to see if her riatsu overpowered his, but now she realized she had no clue what to do next, other than watch Chiken slowly break his bonds.


... What if he couldn't break his bonds? On that thought, Rikiki again pointed her palms at Chiken, and proclaimed, "Way of Binding Four: Crawling Rope!

Ryouichi slashed his sword at Tenkawa again, just to have it bounce off his skin one more time.

Chiken started to sit up a bit, when Rikiki's Crawling Rope spell wrapped around him, sending him back to the ground. Chiken didn't really seem to notice over the sight of the birds flying by overhead.

Employing his footwork and feinting movements, Satoko waited until Anshou lost track of him and then struck, slicing across Mizukin's back. But Anshou, once again, retaliated in kind, carving a gash in Satoko's sword arm.

Junshirou smiled. "If you want to help people, you should become a psychiatrist, not a shinigami. Besides which, you don't seem to be here just because Zetsumei-san is. You wouldn't be stabbing me if you were."

He looked at Ryouichi's sword. He was trying to act as calmly and casually as he could, and not concentrate on the pain, but there was something about the idea of being cut with a sharp blade while completely powerless to stop it that frightened him. He tried not to let it show.

"It is not because of your ambition for others that you are here, Ryouichi-kouhai, but because of your ambition for yourself. Am I right?"

Chiken was starting to get back up, finding himself already free of the restrain bonds, only to thrown back down as Rikiki hit him with a stronger spell this time. He was still smiling the whole time, and saw some nice birds flying in the sky. 'Hmm... I wonder what it would be like to be a bird. Flying around... that'd be fun!'

Rikiki watched her Crawling Rope wrap tightly around Chiken, immoblizing far better than her restrain spell. Having already planned what was next, she aimed her index and middle fingers at Chiken's should, and went to state the incantation for White Lightning. And choked. Restraining someone was all fine, but actually damging someone, especially someone as peaceful as Chiken, didn't sit well with her.

Even so, it had to be done. [color:6944=FF0033]"Way of Destruction 4: W-White Lightning!" Rikiki studdered, unable to watch the bolt fly towards her sparring partner.

Gritting his teeth, Kanue delivered blow after blow with his sword across Tenkawa's back. Tenkawa simply yawned as if he were getting a massage.

Hesitantly, Rikiki launched a White Lightning spell at Chiken. It wasn't very powerful, and Chiken shivered a little as if he had been tickled.

Chiken laughed lightly as he paid no notice to Rikiki or the kidou spell that just hit him. Instead, his head was still up in the clouds, with the birds to be exact. 'Hmm... If I were a bird, I think I'd want to be an orange one.'

"Not quite, Tenkawa-kun." Ryouichi responded as he repeatedly assaulted the other boy. He was unperturbed that his blows were not causing any visible damage. He would score a good hit eventually. It was only a matter of time. "It's true that I could have become a psychiatrist, but that wouldn't do anyone any good. Don't you remember what some districts of Rukongai are like, Tenkawa-kun, or have you been cooped up this school to long to recall?" Ryouichi's sword continued crashing down on Tenkawa, his blows increasing in intensity as he spoke. "Who is going to help the downtrodden people of those districts? The Shinigami assist them occasionally, but it isn't enough."
