Midori nodded to her friend as he left then turned back to Kasahara. "Sounds good to me." She was still grinning from earlier, her worries regarding Ximenez faded for the time being... or perhaps more accurately, pushed back for a while. This was a chance to test her abilities against something more than thin air, which was about the best chance she'd had recently, what with Ximenez destroying the dummy time before last and her missing the simulation the time after that.

A grin flashed upon Kasahara's face after Midori agreed to partner up with her. "This ought to be fun." She murmured to her partner before scampering over to to the center of the gym, where they were suppose to line up, with her weapon in hand. For a moment, she seemed to have forgotten her troubles between her and some of her classmates; as she bounded over to take her spot, the tomboy seemed to hum in content of having a good challenger to spar with. She was simply happy for the time being, which is somewhat rare for her.



Once she got in position she took an offensive stance, gripping the handle of her zanpakutou with both of her hands, as she waited for Shuhei-sensei to let them begin.

"But, but," Hikari saw Ximenez pair up with Orihime and got sad because she thought she'd be the one getting trained by Ximenez. She looked around. An-chan had a partner, Kage-chan had a partner. She was all alone. Was An-chan still mad at her?

"Huh? Yeah sure I guess," Hikari said, her heart not really in it.

"Alright, looks like every--," Shuhei trailed off, noticing Duggo standing off all by himself. "Hm," he said. "Looks like with Inoue-san here, we've got an odd number of students now. I suppose you can train with--," he started to pull out his sword.

The door to the gym flew open again, and in dashed Fuiro Hyakushi, looking in a bit of a hurry.

"Hey, Hisagi-fukutaicho. You happen to have any students I could borrow for a class?"

Shuhei blinked. "As a matter of fact...," he said putting his sword away. "Duggo-san," he called over to the lone rocker dude. "Go ahead and go with 6th Seat Hyakushi. Don't worry, you'll still get credit for the class."

"Hey thanks, I owe you one," said Fuiro, taking Duggo and leading him down the hall.

Shuhei cast his eyes down the line of the class.


Orihime - Ximenez

Satoko - Anshou

Igarashi - Zetsumei

Maka - Midori

Tenkawa - Kanue

Rikiki - Chiken

Naomi - Hikari

Ashibue - Daisuke

He raised one hand into the air. "Alright everyone, get ready."

There was a moment of tense silence as each side of the room gazed intently at the other.

And there it was.

Shuhei dropped his arm at the same time he blew his whistle, signaling for the training to begin.

Anshou took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down. Satoko was a tough opponent, and he knew that unless he stayed focused on the fight and on Zaraki's training that he would lose or get hurt pretty bad.

His hands gripped Shiroganasashi tight, ready for the whistle, and as soon as Hisagi blew the whistle, Anshou made his attack, swinging his sword quickly toward Satoko's neck.

As he waited for the spar to begin, Ryouichi smiled widely in anticipation. Tenkawa's mind may be strong, but both his physical strength and his constitution are dismal. This should be an easy victory. There's no way he could possibly defeat me at this point.

Suddenly, Shuhei's whistle sounded shrilly, and Ryouichi immediately gathered reiatsu and flung out a Kidou spell (seemingly his favorite). He anticipated a counter-spell from Tenkawa, but it didn't matter. All that mattered was pinning the black-haired boy with a binding spell so that he would be easy prey.

"Way of Binding Four: Crawling Rope!"

Naomi waited for a reply from Hikari, it finally came. Naomi was semi excited that she would get to face Hikari in combat. Naomi had not gotten to see her fight in the simulation for she was knocked out and Naomi was not there. The blonde hair girl seemed like well balanced type that does not do Kidou. Naomi tried to think how powerful she might be but then stopped because it might ruin the fun.


The teacher then called them in. Everyone had a partner until Duggo. A teacher then removed Duggo temporarily from the class. Naomi wondered what they might be doing. Naomi then heard the words she wanted to hear all day. Begin! She withdrew her Weapon. She then thought of a running motion. “This time I will try a Zig Zag” she thought. She ran towards Hikari. She shifted her body left then right then left. Then Naomi jumped in the air getting ready to attack.

Duggo shrugged, and followed as instructed. "This ought to be interesting," he mused, silently, "or not?"

Satoko waited rather impatiently for the whistle, fidgeting uncomfortably, wishing the whistle would be blown and yet dreading it when it finally was. Takeshi had figured Anshou would be particularly fast, but was proven wrong because the moment the whistle was blown a sword was bearing down towards Takeshi's neck in what could prove to be a relatively fatal injury. His mind started thinking, fast; it seemed as though the whole world around him and slowed down to let him decide how to respond. Anshou's clearly strong, and the positioning of this blow is going to cause a lot of damage. Defending at this point may be my best bet, responding with an attack would damage both him and me, but I don't think I can take as many hits as he can.

The blade in Anshou's hands was drawing closer to Takeshi's neck, he didn't have time to think this over, regardless how quickly he was thinking, he would have to stop Anshou's blade. That sword with Anshou behind it could do too much damage and would risk ending this fight far too quickly for Takeshi's tastes. His hand on Ryuunosuke, who was still partially sheathed, Takeshi drew the sword quickly to defend from Anshou's deadly attack.

Takeshi could feel the cold steel of Anshou's sword touching his neck by the time he brought up his sword to repel Anshou's, not leaving a lot of space for Takeshi to defend from the blow. Thinking fast, again, he twisted his body to create some space between him and sword, giving him the chance to defend before the sword turned him into the Soul Societies very own headless Shinigami.

As soon as the whistle blew for the class to begin the exercise, Kasahara stiffened. She was ready to attack but she seemed a little jumpy upon hearing the whistle. She released the grip of one of her hands on her Zanpakutou and launched herself forward towards Midori with the weapon wildly held in her right hand. Once she got to a certain calculated distance from the green haired girl, she twisted her body as if taking a sharp left turn. Rather than swinging her weapon at the her partner, Kasahara spin with her leg whipped out; she was sending the other girl a swift kick to her left side. She made sure to hold her weapon up while she attacked with her leg to ensure that she wasn't trying to cut into Midori just yet.

How would Ryouichi initiate this... it seemed likely that he'd start off with a kidou spell. He wasn't much of a fighter, and he'd be anticipating Junshirou to let loose with a kidou spell of his own. Or would he? Perhaps it was a double-bluff, and he'd find a way of stopping the kidou spell. Or perhaps... he'd have to be stopped, though, whatever he was planning to do. Hmm... would it be faster to physically block him from casting anything, or to counter with something like Restrain? But Restrain was so weak, and...

...argh, he was moving! Junshirou instinctively leapt to the side, spreading his hands apart, focusing his reiatsu, and shouted, "Way of Destruction One: Thrust!". Without waiting to see if the spell hit its target or not, he immediately readied his zanpakutou and started running towards Kanue, ready to block the next action that he would take, although he had at least a few seconds to consider what that action was going to be.

Igarashi waited patiently in his place for the sound of the whistle. As much as he was worried about what he was supposed to do in the tournament, there was no point in dwelling on it anymore. He couldn't really do anything about it right now. He might as well focus and try to enjoy the actual battle he had ahead. As he waited, Igarashi scanned his foe. Now that he thought about it. Zetsumei was one of the few classmates he couldn't quite figure out yet. Battle-wise at least, he didn't really knew what to expect from him. As such, he was now kinda glad he had a chance to spar with him to test him out. Better learn about him here and not in an actual fight, When knowing nothing about your enemy could cost you the fight.

As soon as the teacher blew the whistle, Igarashi reacted immediately, quickly sprinting towards Zetsumei and deciding that while he was in training, he might as well try again the strategy he had used against the training robots in the first class with Lt. Hisagi. While it didn't work quite as well that time, Igarashi still thought this was his best way to act: Strike first before the enemy can react, or counter-attack. Quickly reaching Zetsumei's position, Igarashi lowered his body briefly as he drew out his zanpakutou, ready to attack with a rising diagonal slash. If successful, this first strike could give him an edge over the rest of the battle.

*Zetsumie meanwhile had stood watching Igarashi carefully.*

He's probably going to try and attack me with surprise just like in the training exercise. That's just not going to work in a situation like this, when we both know when the fight will start.

*Just as he had suspected, Iragi went right for him.*

Don't you know anything Igari? That won't work on me.

*Zetsu saw his foe about to bring up his sword down to do a vertical slash. He opponent was too easy to read.*

So that's what you're doing huh? You're leaving a lot of openings with that sort of attack. I'm going for the one opening your aren't going to expect though.

*Zetsumie puts both hands on his Zampakto's hilt, and moves it to hit Igari's sword. He also pushes up with all of this strength.*

My goal is to disarm you and then attack. This should be easy with your sloppy form and rushed move.

*Zestumie concentrates all his faculties on this maneuver.*

Humming to himself, Chiken had been standing in line, smiling without a care. The tension of the spar never really crossing his mind, he was halfway in Chikenland, but without really thinking of anything. Instead, all that was there was the hum that Chiken let freely out as he waited for the whistle.

As the whistle blew again, Chiken could feel reiatsu quickly raging from his left, the pairing of Kanue and Tenkawa. He took a quick glance around of others leaping into the fighting before turning to Rikiki, smiling. Nearly instantly, his eyes closed as his hands started shifting through the motions and words running through his head.
"Way of binding one: Restrain!" Were the words flying out of his mouth, with a joyful smile.

Daisuke took an offensive stance, with one hand on the ground, and the other wrapped around his sheathed zanpakuto. As soon as the teacher blew his whistle, he launched himself at Ashibue, taking care to hold nothing back as he had a hunch that the girl could handle just as much as he could dish out. Spinning around with great speed despite his size, he swung his sheathed zanpakuto in an attack directly to Ashibue's face.

(I just happened to be online at the same time as Iga and Zetsu and played out their whole fight. )

Zetsumei brought his sword up to meet Igarashi's, but then suddenly he wasn't there.

"Huh?" Zetsu froze for a moment before feeling a blade cut through his right shoulder and down his back. Zetsu jumped back, but the damage had been done. Blood poured down his side from the gaping wound.

*Zetsumie screamed in pain.*

That, that wasn't what I was expecting! I underestimated him! how did he disappear like that?

*Zetsumie straightened up and concentrated as hard as he could*

I'm putting everything into this next attack.

*He turned towards Igari and attacked his midsection with his sword.*

"Got you!" Igarashi grinned as he drew first blood. He knew that as fast as he was, a frontal assault was easy to see, but he also suspected this would make Zetsu focus only in the evident attack, not in his own immediate reaction. His reflexes had paid off after all.

Glad that he had achieved the edge he wanted, Igarashi decided to press on again, seeing that Zetsu tried to attack first, Igarashi jumped his attack, hoping to avoid it and counter with an attack of his own

Zetsumei lunged forward. His blade was right on the mark, but Igarashi was just too fast. The tip of Itonabou left a gash on the side of Iga's arm, but it didn't faze the redhead in the least as he somersaulted over the green haired boy and drove his sword deep into Zetsumei's right arm.

Igarashi grunted lightly at the wound Zetsumei left on him. Apparently, he didn't jump high enough, but at least he had left another good wound on his opponent right side, maybe he should press on in the part. With this in mind, Igarashi quickly sent a lunge with Sougenkotsu at Zetsu's right side as soon as he landed.

*Zestumie went wide eyed again as his blow barely brushed Igari's arm.*

He's fast... to damn fast...

*Zestumie tried his best to calculate where he would be next. He wasn't sure he could react fast enough. The blood... was he seeing things?*

Startled by the green-haired boy's sudden burst of ferocity, Igarashi hesitated for a brief moment, and this brief hesitation earned him another swipe to the arm. But, in his rage, Zetsumei had left himself completely open, and Iga took advantage of this, slashing through the boy's midsection, sending blood spraying everywhere again.

*He mounted a counter attack as quickly as he could after Igari struck him. Zetsumei grinned and didn't even flinch at this wound. He really didn't seem like his usual self at all. He smiled and laughed as his pain while attempting to strike.*

"That was nothing!"

*His voice sounded completely different. Blood was dripping down his front but he seemed strangely unaffected by it.*

"You'll pay for that boy, attacking my owner like that."

*Zetsumei's sword glowed, and he attacked with every intent to kill Igari.*

Igarashi stared at Zetsumei worriedly, Iga was enjoying every second of this fight no doubt, perhaps even more so than any others before, hollows were boring compared to this. But something was off. Zetsumei was badly wounded, Igarashi knew those wounds he had inflicted were no laughing matter, and yet... that was exactly what Zetsumei was doing... laughing, and was now lunging at Igarashi again, and just as with the last attack, it seemed as Zetsumei was trying to outright kill him, not just fight him anymore.

Still, Igarashi was enjoying this too much to call off the fight, as dangerous as it might be to continue, he didn't want to stop. On the contrary, Zetsu's aggression had only fired him up more. Igarashi also figured that he might as well just wound him again until he fainted, then he could figure out what was wrong. And so Igarashi Rushed just like zetsu was doing, only, he aimed his attack at the green haired boy's right side, not a vital part.

Worried about his classmate, Iga held back on his next strike, but he held back a little too much and missed the mark completely. Meanwhile, Zetsumei kept up his relentless assault, and despite his obviously superior speed, Iga still could stop from getting cut.

"Gah!" This time, Iga couldn't restrain his pain, that had hurt, and what was worse, he didn't do anything to zetsumei this time around. Zetsu was another thing completely right now, if he had been slower, that slash he gave him could have been fatal.. "Alright... you asked for it!" Now a bit more angered but still pumped up. Igarashi leaped towards Zetsumei, directing a fast and powerful downward strike, intent on ending this fight once and for all.

*Zetsumei was having another fight.... with his mind.*

*Zetsu shook his head and his sword resumed to his normal state.*

I've got to concentrate if I'm going to win this.

Igarashi, more than a little shaken, felt Zetsumei's sword pierce his shoulder and then... stop before going too deep. Zetsumei just suddenly stopped moving, shaking a little. Not about to pass this opportunity up, Iga made a desperate slash at the green-haired boy's forearm, snapping Zetsumei out of his little trance.

*Zetsu was really in bad shape. He knew he could not win this.*

Well I have to try. I'd never hear the end of it if Kasahara knew I had given up.

*Zetsumei makes one more desperate attack against Igarashi. He pretends to aim for his arm as a fake out, with his real intent being his foe's midsection.*
