"Tokyo; the district of Ikebukuro. A young man named Mikado Ryugamine has moved there from "the sticks," clueless as to how things work in the big city. Reunited with his childhood friend Masaomi Kida for the first time in years, Mikado is shown the way around town as he tries to adapt to the hectic ways of the busy metropolis.

Oh! Also, word on the street is that a mysterious motorcyclist with no head (in fact Celty Sturluson, a modernized Dullahan from Celtic Mythology), riding a bike which seems to emit horse-like whinnies, has been riding about committing acts of vigilante justice in a spectacularly violent fashion. That's pretty important. There are gang wars, kidnappings and suicide pacts, too."

Yes, technically the two "!!" are part of the title, but everyone just calls it "Durarara" or "DRRR".

This is quite possibly the best anime I've ever seen. I know I like to use hyperbole a lot when describing these things, but the animation and story quality of Drrr pretty much blew my mind. All of the characters are likable and have interesting motivations, although they're also larger-than-life, and every single last one of the main cast is awesome and/or badass. The humorous parts are funny, the action sequences are cool, and I really can't find anything at all to dislike about this show.

Watch it, if you have time. I highly, highly recommend it.

Every time I see Brezhnev, I imagine him singing "Chocolate Rain." I think this makes me racist.

Anyway, Durarara!! is (very obviously) from the same people who did Baccano!, but it's not as convoluted and hard to follow as Baccano!. I dunno if I'd call it the best anime ever, but it's very good. I think it just seems like the best anime ever because it's the only thing that's come out in the last, like, two years that's not just moe-overload trash or pointless tits and panty shots.

It sucks that all the good fansubbers are dropping it due to Crunchyroll, though, especially since Crunchy's subs are the worst ever.

Man, fuck this. This is like the ninth time that I predicted what I thought would be a "super-dramatic twist reveal," only to have the show come out and flat out SAY whatever I predicted within an episode.

They just need to hurry up and put out Ep. 19 before I collapse into twitchy withdrawal.

Seems the OST is out now. Hooray, finally we can listen to full versions of the amazing music!
