ok so some people seem to be confused on who Kazu is ( I'm not singling anyone out, it is a few people, so I am posting this post
).
They confuse me with Kazu.
Me: I am goofy, fun and I love to party --- on the internet where it's safe from the world.
Kazu: Kazu can sometimes make mistakes that result in funny situations, he does like to enjoy karaoke once a week (he only does it for a once a week show guys, not every day), and bring joy and stability to others.
Me: For the most part, I hate people! So far I like everyone I've met so far on this board. But in general, I tend to run into people who just make me want to kill all humans.
Kazu: Kazu follows the teachings of Confucius and Buddha. He defends everyone, kinda like superman.
Me: I take only a few things seriously. Those few things, I take very seriously (such as my business, my stories, and bloody, vile revengence wuahahhaha).
Kazu: Kazu is very serious about his duties, and the people around.
Me: Highly educated (and I gots the awards to prove it!). People who try to debate me tend to be the mop I use on the gym floor (having two parents who judge speech and debate meets doesn't hurt). I'm 29 years old, was on the Dean's List 3 consecutive years, and a member of the educational fraternity Phi Theta Kappa. When I'm not writing stories, I'm reading everything I can read (news, science journals, etc...)
Kazu: Same, ditto (well obviously he wasn't on the dean's list but you know what I mean). Only he's more of the Wisdom, Confucian and Buddha teachings than I am. He's also 3,000 or more old (in avatar form).
So who is kazu?
A guy who has fun every Friday in the appropriate time and place. Everywhere else, he's professional without going nuts (like the blond guy in squad 4 who's a nutcase). If you want, compare him with Bob Hope.
Bob Hope was a professional. When it was appropriate for him to be funny, he was funny. When it was time to be professional, he was professional. Even when he was funny he was a professional. He was not a goofball, he was not an idiot. Neither is Kazu.
Here's an example of Bob Hope being professional (I forgot the war and the name of the woman, it's late and I can't find the person - I think it was Korean or beginning of his Vietnam tour):
One of the first few major professional female comedians who performed and got her start from Bob Hope went with him on a USO tour. He was laughing it up joking, telling stories in the hospital ward. She walked over to one of the boys and burst out in tears. Bob Hope grabbed her arm and excused them both with a joke and a laugh, took her behind the curtains and said (only slightly paraphrased, I wish I could remember it verbatim):
"These boys have to deal with death and pain every day, and probably for the rest of their lives! We're here to make them laugh, so if you can't handle it then you need to leave."
That's Kazu. He's joking when it is appropriate, but professional, and he takes a lot of pride in what he does (and he does it well since he's been around for so long). This guardian deity/spirit has been walking the earth as an avatar for over 3,000 years, so he's not a goofball like Kon.
Here are some other characterizations to help you understand Kazu (you may have to mix and match them up a bit to come out with Kazu):
Bagheera from the Disney Jungle Book cartoon movie (Disney had a few versions - this is a very good comparison so I moved it to the top)
Tom Bombadil
Samwise Gamgee (only not so much subservient)
Cross between Gimli and Legolas (this is a good comparison)
Winston Zeddmore
And, of course, Kaz the Minotaur from the original Dragonlance books (
)
I think Bagheera is the best comparison (wise, guardian protector, capable of a few jokes), basically if you break rules without a good reason, Kazu gets upset. Kazu values virtue higher than honor (so does Ichigo and Renji), so that may put him at odds with those who think like Byakuya (honor above all else). But, on that same note, Kazu believes Honor without Virtue is not Honorable at all.
I hope all of you fully understand Kazu now, tyvm ^_^
